In this studio we had to look for a value we found interesting in our private home during the quarantine time. And work with that quality to come up with a technique for planning a new space. I found a new way to look at the space and mixed the outside into the inside with the help of a projector. A new meaning to capture the space and break the reality into a new architecture.

This project offers a cohabitation environment that creates a landscape from which the residents can grow their needs in a sustainable way of living. It re-examines the relationship between city and village and between agriculture and urbanism.

Location: Katamonim , Jerusalem.
In a banana shaped block between Rabbi Tzadok St and Jose San Martin St.
I chose to place the units in the free spaces between the existing buildings.
There is a small slope down facing the lower buildings. I decided to spread out the units on top of each other into the topography.

How to build the units?

The patio functions as a space between the inside and the outside, where the dirty actions of the farm will take place. A kitchen is located close to the patio to cook the fresh produce easily.

The front facing wall is made of stones closed in iron cages.
light and air can pass between the stones into the units,
(creating a “cave like” sensation in a manmade environment)
In front of the stones there are glass windows that can be opened.
A roof built like a pool filled with soil, Beneath it lies a water drainage system and insulation layers. cow’s dung used to fertilize the soil.

The outdoor living is happening simultaneously to the actions underground, you are in the kitchen cooking and you step outside to grab a tomato or you can just have a goat inside your house.

I am from the countryside and I grew up surrounded by fields and agriculture. With this project I wanted to bring my home values into the city, and used the topography of the site as a main element to define my design and as the source for life in this environment.
